Salaam FC Bor has been crowned the winner of South Sudan National League leading with 7 points ahead of El-mariekh FC of Bentiu.
Bor based football club will now participate in the CAF Champion League, according to Albino Kuek, the spokesperson for the South Sudan Football Association.
“Salaam FC Bor which is leading with 7 points has scooped financial award of 20,000 U.S dollars, Salaam FC Bor will be representing South Sudan in the upcoming Africa championship,” Kuek said in Juba on Tuesday.
Salaam Wau who emerged third received bronze medal and the silver medal was awarded to El-marierkh FC Bentiu for taking second place in the 2023 South Sudan league.
The South Sudan league started on May 10, 2023 with over 10 teams from the three regions of Upper Nile region, Equatorial region and Bahr El Ghazel region.
Augustino Maduok, the President of South Sudan Football Association, said they are committed to develop football.
He called on well-wishes to raise resources for developing football infrastructure across the country.
“We are committed to develop football but we lack resources, we lack infrastructure, I am calling on the well-wishers to help fund football and build infrastructure, all that is needed is adequate resources,” Maduok said.
