The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen. Atem Marol Biar has embarked on a tour of greater Bahr El Ghazel region to acquaint himself with the welfare and working condition of police officers in a bid to improve their work.
“The Inspector General of Police is touring to acquaint himself with the situation of the police forces all over those states then after he will see what the challenges are, he is trying to identify the challenges,” said Daniel Justin Buolo, the national police spokesman in an interview on Wednesday in Juba.
In November 2023, President Salva Kiir Mayardit sacked long serving Inspector General of Police Gen.Majak Akech Malok and appointed Gen. Atem Marol Biar as the new IGP.
In early December 2023, the Inspector General of Police Gen. Atem Marol Biar directed police to crackdown on criminal gang in Juba which led to the arrest of more than 400 suspected criminals.
Buolo revealed that the Inspector General of Police Gen.Atem Marol Biar started his tour with Warrap and then will proceed to Northern Bahr El Ghazel, Western Bahr El Ghazel and stop in Lakes state.
“We are there to protect the people but the practical aspect is taken over by the political leadership especially the governors of the states, the Inspector General of Police has a plan to visit the whole country,” said. Buolo.
