Aweil youth association a non-partisan group is preparing for elections to in all five counties of the Northern Bahr El Gazal state in February.
James Amet Dhiau, a member of the steering committee charged with overseeing the election in Aweil East County said the youth will be provided opportunity to elect new leaders.
The mission of the youth association is to address unemployment, enhance unity and development.
Dhiau said each county is represented by 7 members on the steering committee.
“The mobilization of funds lies in the capacity of the youth body, local authorities and the individuals themselves who know what roles the youth play in society. The steering committee members will do what is indispensable for the elections to occur,” he disclosed.
Aweil South county, deputy steering committee chair, Akol Aluong Wek called for unity and honesty during the election campaigns.
“I appeal to young people to observe peace and tranquility when your names are omitted on the candidates’ list,” he said.
The Aweil youth association was formed in November last year.
