A concerned citizen in Aweil town of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State has promised to foot the tuition for the son of the late Warguot Payam administrator who was recently gunned down by a member of a Sudanese militia group.
Kerbino Thiep Tong, the Aweil East County Peace Coordinator, said he was touched by the son of the late Santino Akech Angok during funeral prayers held on Saturday.
“I have been a friend of the late Santino Akech and when we buried him, I got a great encouragement from his youngest son called Alou Akech. He came straight to me and asked me to uncover his father so that he sees him, I got very courageous and I allowed people to allow him see him,” said Tong.
“The boy is great, I am going to support him till he finishes high school,” he added.
On January 13th, a misseriya gunman opened fire at Angok and his deputy killing them instantly in Warguot Payam. The suspected killer who is under custody of Sudanese officials in South Kordofan region had accused the two officials of confiscating his property prior to killing them.
Tong appealed to the relatives of the deceased to remain strong and allow the state government to conclude ongoing investigation into the murders.
Kiir Yor Lual, the Commissioner of Aweil East County, warned civilians to refrain from attacking foreigners especially Sudanese nationals in the state in an attempt to revenge.
Santino Akech Angok was a payam administrator assigned to administer Warguet payam in Aweil East County neighboring South Kordofan region of Sudan.
