Ugandans should invest in “big businesses”—Juba city mayor.

Juba city council mayor Michael Lado Allah-Jabu has lifted fingers on some Ugandans whom he accused of doing petty businesses which is ring-fenced to South Sudanese people.

“We need substantial businesses, the businesses some Ugandans are doing here are so minor that it should be done by south Sudanese, I also urge them to do developmental not crime related businesses, ” Allah-Jabu said on Tuesday during the opening of the South Sudan-Uganda Business Forum in the Capital Juba.

The mayor pledged to cooperate with all people operating different kinds of businesses in Juba City and warned them to refrain from businesses that promote crimes and harm to humanity.

He also advised foreigners doing various kinds of businesses in the country to put up some development through investing their profits in South Sudan rather than just repatriating all of it to their respective countries of origin.

He added that, they are devoted to the growth of Juba city and promised that they will promote any business or businesses that will bring development in the country.

“I want you to do businesses that will promote economic growth in the country, we are committed as government to promote those businesses that will propel economic growth and development in the country,” He said.

The three-day South Sudan, Uganda Business Forum has brought together several participants from Kampala and Juba aimed at boosting trade between the countries commenced on Tuesday in Juba and will end on Thursday.
