The Tenth batch of China medical team provided free treatment to some 2,000 local people during a four-day medical camp in the oil-producing Paloch area of northern South Sudan.
The medical team visited Paloch, located in the northern Upper Nile State from March 15 to 18 where they administered more than 200 types of medicines to local patients, carried out blood tests for malaria, solved pain problems through Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) acupuncture, and gave debridement to patients with trauma.
The Chinese doctors also shared clinical knowledge with local staffs through cooperation in treatment.
Butrus Barach, medical director of Paloch Friendship Hospital built by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) introduced the general condition of the hospital to the Chinese Ambassador Ma Qiang, and expressed his appreciation to China medical team for their commitment and hard work throughout the days.
Chinese Ambassador Ma Qiang visited each department of the Paloch Friendship Hospital and kindly asked patients about their conditions and feedback to the medical activity.
Ma while in the TCM acupuncture room encouraged the Chinese doctors to share medicine treasure with South Sudanese to relieve more local patients’ pain.

The China medical team also donated medical supplies to Paloch Friendship Hospital.
The medical team consisted of 13 specialist doctors including physicians, surgeon, gynecologist, dermatologist, ENT doctor, medical laboratory technologist, TCM acupuncturist, and orthopedist, pediatrician, anesthesiologist, and radiologist and operation nurse.
The medical camp in Paloch was coordinated by the Chinese embassy and South Sudan’s ministry of health.
The China medical team based in Juba Teaching Hospital, has not only offered free medical services in South Sudan as it has also helped with the capacity building of health workers and medical students.
The medical team has also carried out routine outreach medical programs across the youngest nation since 2013.
