The management of South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) has been directed by the minister of information, communication, technology and postal services to come up with organized programs.
“SSBC must make sure that all programs are organized, there are certain fixed programs that must appear all the time, they must be organized in the sense that we have programs of the week,” Michael Makuei Lueth, said during the handover ceremony of the newly built broadcasting building equipped modern television facilities in Juba on Tuesday.
“We have English Channel, you get a program in English and the next version in Arabic and vice versa, SSBC must be prepared to separate the channels, Arabic channel should continue as Arabic channel,” he said.
Makuei also called on the management of the state broadcaster to set up a committee to evaluate songs, because he termed some songs aired on the television as immoral.
“The management must set up a committee for the evaluation of songs, there are songs that are not wanted, they must be evaluated, it is not acceptable to take to the media a song that is not accepted,” he said.
Makuei also cautioned tough measures against SSBC staff that appear shabby on air.
“Anyone who appears on the screen of SSBC must be presentable, this represents the face of the people of South Sudan,” he said.
