Celebrating Diversity in South Sudan- a local initiative that seeks to build public-private partnership to develop various kinds of sports activities has been launched.
“The objective of this celebrating diversity initiative is to build bridges between the public, the private sector and the sports sector, we want to identify ambassadors in public and private sector to push the agenda of sports forward and to make sure that we are able to use sports as a platform to engage young people,” Nuer Maker Benjamin, the Managing Director of Celebrating Diversity Initiative said during the launch of the sports initiatives at Scenius Hub in Juba on Saturday.
He said they aim to engage corporate institutions to contribute to sustainable sports in the country.
Maker added they will be mobilizing financial and material support to build sports including football, basketball, netball, volleyball and athletics among others.
Ronyo Thabo Yor, the head of the media team for celebrating diversity initiative, said the initiative seeks to engage young people in a positive way through sports.
“We are working on our nation’s pride by reflecting on activities in public and private sector and viewing them through exhibition or art gallery, such occasions help in building the social fabric, and bring youth all over South Sudan together,” Yor said.
“We are also trying to discover talent, we want the talents of young people to be put to use in a positive way. We want youth to use their energy in a positive way and by doing so we are helping our country to move forward,” he disclosed.
