The Trinity Energy has started rehabilitation of the Wau Power Plant with the aim of extending power supply to neighboring states of Warrap and Northern Bahr el Ghazel state.
Phillip Warden, the power project manager at Trinity Energy, said on Saturday during the launch of the power project in Wau.
“Our state government, Trinity Energy and the central government are trying to put hands together so that we make this project a success, we have ongoing network construction but we not targeting only Wau,” Warden said.
“We have the network, our plan is to ensure we expand the network far to nearest states and towns like Kwajok, Akon and Awiel, we will go gradually and make all citizens get power,” he added.
Zachariah Joseph, the deputy governor of Western Bahr El Ghazel state, said the government is focusing on development in the state, adding that the government is ready to backup partners to bring development.
“We have citizens in Wau well secured more than in other towns in South Sudan and we want to supply power to all households in Wau,” Joseph said.
Ernesto Paul, the Wau power station manager urged the government to help ease access to construction materials.
He said that the power project will improve security in Wau town.
“We have received new generators, we urge state government to help the company get construction materials from Juba,” Paul said.
