Justice for Akuot, community leader calls

The community leader for luacjang has called on the government to make to it that justice prevail for the Akuot.

Agany Akuot Kut had her eyes pierced last week by her father citing a father- daughter dispute, which left her in critical condition.

The teenager has been flown to Juba for further medical attention with the help of a businesswoman Sarah Enoch.

 Mathew Mathiang said, “What happened was misunderstanding between a daughter and her father. It was supposed to be a displinary issue but the father took another level. He did not give opportunity to this girl but decided to pierce the eyes of the girl. This is not right,” he said.

He said the act is unlawful therefore government should do all it can to show the rest who might have intention to do the same.

 “The government should investigate this case and the court of law should take its cause.”

He called on organizations and government to continue fighting the for the right of the girls and women.

“We appreciate the government for their support; we all need the father for what he has done to his daughter,” he insisted.

The mother of Akuot Agany Kut, Achan Arier regrets leaving her children in her husbands hand after the court had ordered her to leave for her parents’s house.

“I hope my daughter’s treatment goes well and I also hope that all my children that are left in the village can be brought to me such that I can see them because I am worried,” she worried.

“What has happened will kill me if I did not go to my father’s house. I would be the first to be killed,” she continued. “If I knew that this would have affected my daughter, I wouldn’t have listened to what the government (court) had said and left to our house.”

Sarah called on the government to bring her children to her citing that her children conditions are bad.

 “My heart is not place. I urges the government to bring my boys that I left behind to Juba where I am currently,” she cried.

The police spokesperson Daniel Justin Bola said the act od violence will not be tolerated in the country citing justice shall prevail for Akuot.

“This is domestic violence. The law will take its cause. Investigation is taking place and all will be done,” he said.

He said women and guys suffer violence though the cases go unreported.

“This incident has happened but it took long for it to be reported. We all have the responsibility to a stop Gender based violence,” he said.

He called on the community to report to the police in the special protection unit quickly for the cases to be report.

He assured of the case be taken to court after investigation finishes.
