Police apprehend 24 suspected gangs during Christmas in Bentiu

Unity State police joined forces with community watch groups who are based at the Internally Displaced Persons’ camp (IDP camp) and arrested twenty four (24) suspected gangs from two groups locally one known as Jamaica and the other Talent gangs.
“The Jamaica gangs and Talent gangs had declared that they were going to fight over this Christmas season, when we got this information, we had to take action.” Said the commander of the joint forces, Nyang Tap Chuol.
Residents of Bentiu, the capital of Unity State are celebrating Christmas in peace for the first time since 2013.
Last year, Talent and Jamaica gangs disrupt Christmas festivities, the gangs fought for five days leaving nine (9) people dead and twenty one (21) others wounded.
