The Deputy Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Dr. Jacob Maiju Korok has called upon government institutions to adapt E-service system to help in increasing non-oil revenue collection.
Korok said these remarks on Friday after the board meeting of directors of electronic services.
He urged government institutions to cooperate with “Crawford Capital” the implementing company to accelerate the process for the application of the system in South Sudan.
“I want to tell the government institutions resisting the system that they have to be flexible to apply this system, these systems are actually giving us a reward, given is an increment of the revenue,” he said.
“If we want to support the government, support the non-oil revenue we have to digitalize our institutions so that we channel our revenue in one direction which is the ministry of finance and planning,” said Korok.
He revealed that non-oil revenue collections have risen to 16 billion South Sudanese Pounds a month from the previous 3 billion SSP after the government introduced e-tax system.
The E-tax portal was installed by the Juba-based Crawford Company.
