Authorities in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State have designated Wed-will area for Sudanese refugees currently staying in Kiir-Adem.

This was revealed on Monday by Tong Aken Ngor, the Governor of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State during the graduation of some 2,800 police officers in Aweil town.

“These are your brothers and sisters. They have been welcoming us and we just seceded from them. Kindly if there are no conditions attached, then let them stay with you till peace comes back,” said Ngor.

More than 70,000 South Sudanese and refugees have arrived in South Sudan after fleeing ongoing fighting between rival military factions in Sudan.

The fighting between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) led by Gen.Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) under Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, better known as Hemedti erupted on April 15.

Ngor said his government will work with the United Nations and other partners to ensure that refugees are supported.

He disclosed that South Sudanese who returned from Sudan will be integrated into the local community.

Adut Deng Yai, a resident of Wed-will said that the Sudanese refugees are welcome to stay with them.

“Our people (refugees) are many in Sudan. We have to reciprocate the good work they have been doing to us back in Sudan,” said Yai.
