Jonglei State Government has been directed to clear any pending workers’ allowances with immediate effect.
The National Ministry of Labor has ordered the state to effectively implement the new salary structure and pay all work allowances from the state coffers,
Biel Mayan Yuel, the State acting Secretary General said it was collectively agreed that immediate payment of all the civil servants’ salaries, multiplied by two, based on 100 percent presidential salary increments must be quickly effected.
“The state government is to pay nature of work allowances from local revenue within seven days from the date of this resolution. Without delay to the implementation of this message order, You are all directed to act accordingly as soon as possible,” he said.
On Monday, the Jonglei State Workers Trade Union protested demanding the implementation of the new salary structure as approved by the President.
They also demanded clearance of all pending nature of work allowances by the state.
