Police authorities in Aweil confirmed that a fatal car accident has left one person dead in Northern Bahr el Ghazal.
On Monday, (today) an older man was killed in a car accident when he was knocked down by a Hino car long side a road about 300 hundred meters from the main town.
The bus had been travelling from Maper-Akot market toward town, In Aweil, roads have increasingly been increasingly high in Aweil as drivers ignore rules and drive too fast. Around more than 20 people have died on Aweil state’s roads this year according to state government officials.
Diing Rech, the Director for Traffic Police in Aweil confirmed the accident saying that the car overturned.
“We heard it around 8: am the morning and we rushed to the scene and found out that the suspect left the scene for the fear of life we had to return to the nearest police station and found him having handed over himself to Police. I am going to make a cross-checking on Tuesday, cross-checking into all vehicles within the town, public transportation, I’m going to look at what vehicle is useful for the road and what is not useful to be used,”
He added that the accident happens on Monday, and it gives us the awareness that there are difficulties among these vehicles, among that transportation which are used in the town, so I’m going to take new action against these issues.
