The Executive Director of Community Empowerment Progress Organization Edmund Yakani, urges the leadership of the National Election Commission to separate consultations with Internal Displaced Persons in various camps across the country.
“The remaining time for preparation for the conduct of the elections for December 2024 was an issue of great consideration during the state levels of consultations of NEC. Matters of unrestricted civic and political space were also raised, including the matters of unification of the forces and constitutional making process. Here, really, the political leaders of the parties are required to hold an inclusive political dialogue for reaching national consensus on the holding of the elections as required by the provisions of R-ARCSS urgently,” Yakani stressed
He added that CEPO is impressed by the inclusive approach exercised by the National Elections Commission during the consultations with various actors at the four states, namely Central Equatoria, Lakes, Upper Nile, and Jonglei the standard of the consultations is inclusive and participatory.
Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO, says the meaningful engagement of the civil society and organizations of persons with disabilities including youth and women, is great and encouraging. Elections are national civic engagement that requires geniuses inclusive and meaningful participation of all national stakeholders.
“CEPO will continue domestic observations of the rest of the NEC states and administrative areas, consultations and release reports. There will be an overall domestic observation report on the states and administrative areas consultations,”
