The president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa and the minister for International Relations and Cooperation’s Naledi Pandor and other delegates are on a 3 working day visit to Juba to discuss the 2024 scheduled election and the progress of the peace agreement.
Ramadan Mohamed Abdallah Goc, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that the visit is of importance to the country as it will show its process since the signing of the 2018 peace agreement.
“The visit and the meeting to us is very important because we do believe that the president will sit with the leaders of South Sudan and will see how South Sudan is prepared for the elections,” he said.
Cyril Ramaphosa will also meet with other 3 institutions, which include the South Sudan election commission, the political party council and the national commission that was trusted to review the constitution of the Republic of South Sudan, the national constitution review commission.
South African, one of the granters to the South Sudan’s peace agreement has been monitoring the country’s process.
