The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) has been commended for it’s strict adherence to gender equality among government agencies.
Gloria Nyoka Joseph, the Acting Director General of Technical Operation in SSNBS on Thursday praised the management of the agency for employing women at different levels.
“The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards has done a lot of achievements since its establishment, the bureau has also fulfilled the vision of late Dr. John Garang for women participation in decision making, this is widely seen in the good number of women at SSNBS,” Nyoka said.
she revealed that women employed by SSNBS are all participating at all levels of leadership, adding that the UN Resolution 1325 calls for increased participation of women at all levels of governance.
“This also shows that we are together following the UN Resolution 1325 on women participation, protection and recovery for women, the resolution urges actors to increase the participation of women and incorporate gender perspective at all levels,” Nyoka said.
The 2018 revitalized peace agreement calls for 35 percent affirmative action for women representation at all levels of governance, including women engagement in politics and also their economic empowerment.
