Northern Bhar El Ghazal mourns MP Ariik

Northern Bahr El Ghazal state is mourning the death of popular member of parliament Abraham Ariik Piol alias Andricko Ariik who passed away on Monday.

Ariik before his death represented greater Madhol payam in Aweil East County in the state parliament.

 He died on January 1 2024 in Malualkon hospital after battling with illness since 2018.

One of his associates, Paul Kuc Akot told Juba Echo that the deceased started to have health complications that led to swellings in his body and was supported by a humanitarian organization.

 Kuch said that the illness persisted even when Ariik worked in the press unit of the state government.

 “Comrade Andriko Ariik had been battling the disease for much longer. He had been developing body changes as he looked like someone who is fat, Governor Tong gave him financial support till he went to Khartoum and when the crisis in Sudan unfolded he fled to Juba where he was put in a hotel. The complications persisted and the doctors gave him treatment but he still passed on,” said Kuch.

Kuch said that the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) secretariat on Sunday arranged funeral arrangements for Ariik in Aweil town.

 Ariik was described by the Governor of Northern Bhar El Ghazal state Tong Aken Ngor as a resourceful and dependable person.

The deceased is survived by four wives and more than 10 children.
