The South Sudan Athletics Federation said on Wednesday that the national athletics championship will be held in Juba starting November 24.
Marko Akol, Secretary General for South Sudan Athletics Federation said that they will use the athletics championship games to select talented athletes for the national team.
“We agreed for athletics championship to take place on November 24 and November 25, 2023 in Juba, we inform all local associations to participate, we will have 23 participants including 10 females from each state,” he told journalists at comfort village in Juba.
Akol said that after selecting the best athletes they will arrange boot camp for them to train.
He also revealed that thy have acquired three slots for athletes Lucia William, Tiel Deng and Abraham Guot to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
“The national athletics championship will take place annually, we will have all events from 100 meters to 10,000 meters, we will also have field events like high jump and hammer throw,” Akol said.
