Police in Aweil West County of Northern Bahr El Ghazal state have arrested a man suspected for supporting a teenage girl to commit abortion.
The suspect Thiep Thiep who is a business man was accused of having instructed his girlfriend Angic Wei Atak to abort their 8-month unborn baby last week.
Lt. Col Philip Agany, the criminal investigation officer handling the case said on Wednesday that the suspect admitted to having an affair with the girl but denied advising her to abort the baby.
Agany said the suspect will be arraigned for trial in the court of law.
“The suspect’s file has been forwarded to the public attorney general to file charges against him,” he disclosed.
Agany urge the public to refrain from abortion, adding that it is abhorred according to the South Sudan transitional constitution.
