The Acting Mayor of Juba City Council Simon Martin has promised to improve service delivery in the city adding a need for cooperation from the residents and businesses for it to take place.
Martin was inspecting roads and round-abouts in Juba just barely a week after the relief of the former acting mayor Emmanuel Richard Khamis.
He said City Council has been overwhelmed with the issues of garbage and gangs activities hence causing a security threat.
“We are going to make sure we improve the service delivery and development in Juba city council and the security issue will be addressed,” he said. “Let the people cooperate with the Juba city council in order to get better services.”
He said there is a need for residential and businesses to cooperate with the companies collecting garbage, the officials of the three blocks, and to pay the garbage fee.
“There is nothing done free, I want you to understand how the local government system works, the revenue we collect from people, in return we give it back to the people in terms of services,” he said
Martin added that they would supervise the work of the contracted companies to be able to see that the city is kept clean.
