Mayor over stepped his mandate-Robert Pitia

The chairperson chamber of commerce, Central Equatoria State Robert Pitia has called on the governor of Central Equatoria State Emmanuel Adil Anthony to take action against the humiliating action of the acting mayor of Juba city.

Emmanuel Khamis Richard the acting mayor of Juba City in a trending video on social media as he tried to bring order slapped a vendor along Seventh day round about.

“I am calling on the governor of Central Equatoria Emmanuel Adil Anthony to handle  the matter. The mayor overstepped his mandate,” he said.

Robert said the act was uncivilised and inhumane as he had had a pistol on one hand and his security personnel man-handled the vendors.

“What happened is embarrassing, its uncivilized for the acting mayor to act in such a manner. For him to threaten  and slap a person when holding also a gun in another hand is unbecoming,” he said.

He said, “We are not in the jungle or in an army barrack. We are in the city and everything in the city must be handled in a civilized manner.”

Robert cited that the city council is meant to protect, create conducive environment and also support he traders, not forgetting handling of things in orderly manner.

He called on the government to coordinate with relevant authorities to handle issues in a right manner.

He further urged vendors/ traders to know of their rights and where to het help incase of emergencies linked with their businesses.

Emmanuel Khamis Richard the acting mayor visited seventh day round about on Sunday to bring it to order with his security when the incident happened.
