One passenger died in motor crash in Aweil East after they were attacked by armed robbers dressed in army uniforms.
This was revealed by Garang Ngong, a traffic police officer in Aweil County of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state on Thursday.
He told Juba Echo that the deceased and his colleague who sustained wounds were transporting goods headed for Majok-Yithiou near Sudan.
“The driver was stopped at Warawar, but he didn’t stop when he reached Malith-Alek-Yai where he was put at gun point by two soldiers. The driver lost control of the brake and one person who was sitting on top of the goods fell off and died immediately,” Ngong said.
Ngong said the deceased passed on due to excessive bleeding.
He disclosed that the driver has been admitted in Aweil civil hospital.
One local resident, who preferred anonymity, accused the armed men of looting people in the bushes.
