Gov,t signed the labor regulations that will regulate all workers in the country

The National Minister for Public Service has signed the labor regulations that will regulate all workers in the country.

The signing ceremony of labor regulations was witnessed by Minister of public Services, Joseph Bangasi Bakasoro, and the Chairperson, committee on labor in Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Anne Lino Wuor Abyei and Lawyer.

Addressing the media at the ministry, the Minister of labor, James Hoth Mai says that the regulations will help employees and employers, provide guidelines, and the ministry to regulate labor markets in the country. He added that the regulations will be translated into acts by National Legislative Assembly.

“The ministry of labor was establish to regulate and mandated to cover all core of labor functions. And now we made the guidelines for the regulations including Ngos recruitment guidelines which give some category jobs like security guards and cleaners to be taken by locals.   We need to talks with states to implement this guidelines.”  The minister stressed.  The minister emphasizes that his ministry is working to make sure people are employed bases on merits in all agencies.   On the other hand, the minister reveal that the ministry have a lot of cases where most people come into ministry started complaining about exploitation and disagreement with their employers.  But they work without signing contracts. He caution employees to always   signed contract with witnesses so that they can be help when there is disagreement.

Speaking on the same ceremony, the Minister of public services, Joseph Bangasi   Bakosoro, says that all these years, the ministry doesn’t have rules and regulations and this signed document will put South Sudan one step forwards.     Bakosoro pointed out that people ignore our best laws and the worse things, we employed people who don’t know their rights.

On her remarks, the chairperson, committee on labor in Transitional National Legislative Assembly, Anne Lino Wuor Abyei,  says that what is remain in this regulations is the operationalization of labor acts.

“In National Legislative Assembly, labor laws acts are done NLA, but we done more interpretation. It is our collective responsibilities to make sure the laws are put into operationalization. Many people don’t know their rights at all and how to follow it, and all employers need to be educated.” She lamented.
