President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Tuesday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to construct road connecting communities across the country.
“The government is working on building infrastructural development across the country to improve road connectivity,” Kiir told a mammoth crowd in Aweil, Northern Bahr El Ghazal State that welcomed him during his tour of the State.
Kiir commenced his tour of greater Bahr El Ghazal region on Saturday starting with Western Bahr El Ghazal State onwards to Warrap State.
In addition, Kiir assured the people of Aweil that the 2018 revitalized peace agreement remains largely on track because the extended roadmap currently being implemented was approved by all parties.
“My government will go for general elections after transitional period and no more extension of transitional government,” he said.
Kiir appealed to parents to send their girls to school, stressing that girls should be given the same opportunity instead of being taken as a source of bride wealth.
“The issue of girl child education needs special attention. Girls should not be taken as a source of wealth rather should be given the same opportunity like the boy child to go to school,” he said.
