The South Sudan Athletics Federation (SSAF) on Saturday elected Majok Ayii Muorwel as it’s President replacing Gen.Samir Khamis.
This was revealed by counsel Tong Akon Yai , the head of election committee for SSAF at Imperial Hotel in Juba.
Majok Ayii Muorwel is the former Vice president of SSAF.
Simon okeny Karica is now the new Vice President, Marko Akol Ding the Secretary General and Francis Juma Markas the Finance Secretary for SSAF.
Joseph Ramadan and Matthew Ngor Bol will be in charge of the department of training for the for the next four years.
“As president, my long-term plan is to develop and advance athletic programs. I plan to construct scientific field track facilities suiting world standard, and training of athletics (men and women) including those from 20 years and above,” said Muorwel.
He said the federation will be responsible for funding and conducting training camps inside and outside the country as well as getting involved in competitions and trials at regional, continental and world championships.
The election was witnessed by Saddig Ahmed, the Secretary General of the East Africa Union of Athletics who is also member of Africa Union of Athletics, Edward Settimo Yugu, and the Director General for Sports at the National Ministry of Youth and Sports and representatives from the National Olympic Committee.
