The Northern Bahr El Ghazal State Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare gifted 30 People living with Disabilities (PLWDs) with foodstuffs in Aweil town.
Each PLWD received 10 kgs of wheat flour as part of Christmas gift provided by Aweil-based Joshua Church in collaboration with the ministry of gender, child and social welfare.
Aman Kenyang, a father of three said he was relieved to have been part of the beneficiaries.
“As vulnerable people we are excited indeed, I have nothing at all as some of us are not working, we rely on humanitarian aid and gifts from well-wishers like this, and this support will take me for ten days,” he told Juba Echo on Monday.
The food donation was done last week prior to Christmas.
Emmanuel Dhieu, another beneficiary thanked Joshua church and the ministry of gender for running to their rescue amid the prevailing economic hardship.
“This 10 kilograms of flour can help during this festive season, I will be happy if they continue supplying the needy across the nation,” said Dhieu.
Joseph Manut Mou, the director general in the state ministry of gender, child and social welfare said they lobby philanthropists to assist the vulnerable and needy in the state.
“Last year, philanthropist Achai Wiir gave them wheelchairs and it was great, We are also contacting World Food Program to support them and it happens,” said Mou.
