President of the Republic of South Sudan His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit has on Monday directed the Managing Director of Nile Petroleum Corporation to ensure consistent fuel availability in the country.
This directive was received by the director of Nile petroleum Dr. Chol Deng Thon Abel during a meeting in which he briefed the head of state on the current activities of Nile Petroleum including its vision “2027” of becoming an Operator in the Republic of South Sudan.
In the same meeting, the Nilepet director also brought to the attention of the head of state its enthusiasm in taking over operations in block 3 and 7 where exploration and production sharing agreement is about to expire.
Block 3 and 7 is a producing conventional oil field located onshore South Sudan and is operated by Dar Petroleum as well as Petroliam Nasional, China National Petroleum, China Petrochemical, Nile Petroleum and MOG Energy.
Dr. Chol told Juba Echo in an exclusive interview that he also grabbed the opportunity provided by his meeting with the president to alert him on other developmental projects that are being undertaken by Nile Petroleum, including its of main office building and the Refinery.
He added that NilePet further discussed the expedition of the construction of road infrastructure to simplify the transported of refined products from the refinery to the destinations where consumers can begin to utilize the products.
The head of state also instructed the leadership of Nile Petroleum to embed more local content which is inclined to youth development and urged them to complete the office main building as soon as possible.
