Military uniforms for the Necessary Unified Forces on Friday arrived at Juba International Airport from neighboring Sudan ahead of the graduation ceremony for the first batch of the 83,000 forces slated for 30th August.
Major Gen. Lul Ruai Koang, South Sudan army spokesperson, said the items include T-shirts, belts, caps, boots, and socks for soldiers, wildlife and police.
“A big cargo plane arrived in Juba from Khartoum on Friday carrying uniforms and these uniforms are for civil defense, wildlife service, prison service, and missing items for South Sudan Police Service such as belts, boots, socks, caps, and T-Shirts,” Koang told Juba Echo in Juba.
He disclosed that these uniforms have been delivered to four training centers such as Rambur, Lologo, Rajaf, and Gorom.
“With this delivery of uniforms, these forces in four training centers I have mentioned will be the ones to graduate on 30th August,” Koang said.
President Salva Kiir has invited his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni and Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed to attend the graduation ceremony.
Under the 2018 revitalized peace agreement, the unified forces will take charge of security during the transitional period that was recently extended till February 2025.
These troops will make up the police, army, intelligence, and prison services.
