Armed assailants have killed seven people including 12-year-old child in Torit County of Eastern Equatoria state.
The incident that occurred on Saturday in Ayaka village was confirmed Monday by Samuel B. Lotti, a member of the national parliament representing Torit County.
Speaking before parliament in Juba, Lotti said the shooting has left three survivors battling with bullet wounds.
Lotti said the assailants also attacked Agoro market on Sunday.
“The same assailants yesterday (Sunday) afternoon attacked again Agoro market and we are still waiting for casualties,” he said.
Lotti blamed the killings on security lapses.
“Unfortunately, this continued without any interference or intervention from our security organs and they were just less than 40 kms away from the scene,” he said.
The Eastern Equatoria state government has dispatched security team to the two scenes of the shooting.
More than 230 people were killed in June during ethnic clashes in Kapoeta North County.
