The Governor of Northern Bahr El Ghazal state on Wednesday rallied people living in Aroyo in Aweil Center County to prepare for the upcoming 2024 elections, saying they will help transition the country toward sustainable peace and stability.
Tong said that elections will not be postponed; adding the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) led by President Salva Kiir sees elections as the moment that will put South Sudan towards the path of realizing durable peace.
He also assured the crowd of his readiness to provide services to them.
Aroyo located Aweil Center County which borders Raja in Western Bahr El Ghazal state.
“I would like to assure you that I will do what it takes to bring services closer to you but support the government led by SPLM,” said Tong.
He also promised to construct a secondary school for the people of Aroyo to get education.
One of the area youth, Santino Ungom appreciated the governor for visiting the area.
He said that government officials need to continue visiting hard to reach areas such as Aroyo in order to understand the challenges of the local population.
Aroyo has been cut off from the main town of Aweil due to floods.
