The humanitarian organization Welt Hunger Hilfe on Friday over the weekend donated cash to more than 2000 vulnerable internally displaced persons in Bentiu IDP camp.
The cash provided to persons with disabilities and the elderly people will help them to grind cereals and also buy other necessities.
Marina Nyareek Gatjiek, the chairperson of Bentiu IDP camp said that about 2039 extremely vulnerable people received cash.
“I have engaged with Welt Hunger Hilfe to support extremely vulnerable people with cash money for grinding food and buying slippers as many vulnerable people are moving bear feet,” she told journalists in Bentiu town during the donation ceremony.
Gatjiek said that each beneficiary received 4000 South Sudanese Pounds, adding that the agreement with Welt Hunger Hilfe will continue for 12 months.
One of the beneficiaries Gatpan Maluit said his slippers got damaged and there was no money to buy new ones.
“This amount looks little but will help me to buy new slippers and grind my food,” said Maluit.
Nyaken Nhial, a 19-year-old disabled school girl said she will use the money for buying exercise books and pens.
