Police in Aweil town of Northern Bahr El Ghazal State are holding their own officer suspected to have shot and critically wounded four boys at Nyamlel area of Aweil West County.
Deng Garang, police officer in the criminal investigation department, said the suspect shot at the boys on Saturday night while they were chatting with some girls.
“The boys were seated with girls near the premises of the courtroom at Nyamlel, we can’t ascertain why he just shot at them,” Garang told Juba Echo in Aweil town on Tuesday.
“One was shot in the chest and the other in the leg and they are now hospitalized in Aweil civil hospital,” he said of the two boys who sustained critical gunshot wounds.
One of the victims Adup Akot said he does not understand why the suspect shot at them.
“He shot three bullets, one in the air and the two at us. As you can see I am now in critical condition,” Akot said.
He said they were just chatting normally with the girls.
Police appealed to the parents and relatives of the boys who were wounded to remain calm as the suspect is being transferred to Aweil prison.
