The Directorate for Civil Registry, Nationality, Passport, and immigration have received 5000 blank passport booklets for emergency use as they wait for the next shipment of passport booklets.
“The directorate of civil registry Nationality Passport and Immigration has again received 5000 blank booklets of passport which are to be used for emergency, when we talk of emergency they are not going to be printed normally,” Col. Kuc Koor Kuc, the director for information, communication, and technology said on Monday.
“We are going to print for people with high needs, we have to print them for people with certain conditions, those who have children going for scholarship studies, government officials who are sent for mission outside,” he added.
Kuc said that they are working to settle the remaining 1.7 million U.S dollars debt owed to Muhlbauer a Germany –based company in charge printing passport booklets.
South Sudan’s Immigration department in mid-February agreed a payment formula for settling the outstanding 1.7 million dollars.
