Heavy fighting erupted in northern part of Unity State between cattle herders from Pariang and Guit on Saturday.
The clashes occurred at the border between Ruweng Administrative Area and Unity State.
Unity State Ministry of Information’s Director General, Deng Muon Liah told Juba Echo that the state government is aware of the fighting.
“Tension was building up the whole of this week and today fighting erupted, the clashes lasted long but the state government intervened and now the fighting has stopped.” Said Muon.
He said the state government is currently receiving information on the number of causalties from where the herders clashed.
Muon said initial information indicates that the cause of fighting is cattle rustling.
