Seven traders were killed and six others wounded in a cattle raid in Jonglei last weekend, the Secretary General of the State, Gatwech Koak Nyuon, said.
Five other traders are also missing following the raid on Friday in an area between Uror and Gadiang, Nyuon said in a statement today.
About “700 heads of cattle” were also raided in the incident which comes “less than a week after Baidit payam incident that shocked Jonglei state community and the entire country,” he said, laying blame on “the known suspected bandits to be from neighbouring greater Pibor Administrative Area.”
Nyoun condemned the raid, noting that it is “unacceptable” and against humanity.
He urged authorities in Greater Pibor to partner with Jonglei state government to “bring the culprits to book.”
