A four-month old baby is fighting for her life at Maxicare 2 clinic after being stepped on during a scramble for a flight at Palouch airport.
The toddler together with the mother is among thousands of returnees fleeing the fighting in Sudan.
The incident happened when the toddler’s mother was attempting to get a space for her 6 children in a plane that was evacuating those fleeing Sudan’s conflict when her youngest fell off from her hands, according to sources.
“The four months old baby had a rectal prolapse after people in scrambling to board hurriedly stepped on her at Paloch airport yesterday, as the mother of six children tried to board the plane,” said the head of Information committee for Concern Citizen Jok Monychok Kuol.
“The Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) team at Juba International Airport managed to swiftly take the toddler to Promise Hospital and later on to Maxicare 2 Hospital at Dar-es-Salaam residential area, opposite St Kizito hospital where the operation is due to take place.”
The “Concern Citizen” a group of South Sudanese youths and well-wishers helping in the evacuation of South Sudanese stuck in Sudan’s conflict.
Jok is now appealing for support from well wishers as the toddler needs a sum of 1,500,000 South Sudanese pounds to undergo surgery and other hospitals bills.
“The mother is appealing to government to locate and airlift the other four children who were unable to board the plane yesterday because of stampede,” Jok said.
