On 13th May 2023, the South Sudan Youth Coalition with whom Christian Agency for Peace and Development (CAPaD) is a member conducted a youth consultative review of the South Sudan’s Mining Act 2012, the activity seeks to increase participation of the young people and citizens in political and civic engagements processes for peace, reconciliation, ceasefire mechanisms, and reform.
The recommendations and views captured during this session will be presented before the National Constitutional Amendment Committee (NCAC) by the Youth Representative to the NCAC, Pursuant to Article 1.18.1 of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS), signed on 12th September 2018, the National Constitutional Amendment Committee (NCAC) was established and mandated to complete the tasks necessary to prepare for the Transitional period and formation of RTGoNU, to draft new or revise, as appropriate, other legislations as provided for in the agreement. National constitutional Amendment Committee (NCAC) has made amendments on Constitutional Amendment Bill aimed at incorporating at the ARCSS and submitted it to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs as stipulated by Article 1.18.1.1 of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.
The session attracted attendance of over 30 participants (youth) drawn from the women groups, civil society representatives, students associations and persons with disabilities, their views were accorded and look forward to it full amendment.
