South Sudanese elected to head IGAD employees

A South Sudanese national has been elected to head the association of employees of the regional body Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

 Bol Andrew Wieu, was on Wednesday elected by employees from member countries of IGAD. 

Wieu will now head the confederation of IGAD employees’ business membership organization for one year period.

He said that he was able to emerge victorious because IGAD’s mission in South Sudan is focused on peace and stability, in addition to pushing for regional integration.

 The confederation of IGAD employees was launched in Nairobi- Kenya on 11 December 2019. 

IGAD member countries include Djibouti, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Sudan, Kenya and Uganda and Somalia.

The vision of the confederation of IGAD employees is partly to enhance growth and development through strong economic integration among member employers’ organizations as a voice that echo and serves interests within the context of international labor standards.
