South Sudan readies to receive United Arab Emirates investors

South Sudan’s cabinet on Friday endorsed the bilateral agreements with the United Arab Emirates that will see several investors from the gulf state invest in agriculture, mining and roads sectors.

This was confirmed by Martin Elia Lomuro, Minister of Cabinet Affairs who said the two countries signed a number of bilateral agreements that will allow companies from UAE to come to South Sudan.

“We are encouraging our business communities to be ready to receive investors from the UAE with whom they can do business and engage in development, we are now in peace and we need to move forward with development, we endorse those two agreements on development with UAE,” he told journalists after the weekly cabinet meeting in Juba.

The minister revealed that President Salve Kiir already informed traditional chiefs to allocate land to UAE investors for agricultural production.

Lomuro added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is developing a number of cooperation agreements between UAE and South Sudan, adding that South Sudanese need to welcome investors from the gulf country.
