A 20-year-old South Sudan People’s Defense (SSPDF) soldier who shot dead on Wednesday the wife of Mboya Akileo the Budi County commissioner has been arrested. Maj. Gen John Luny, Eastern Equatoria state Acting police commissioner said on Thursday that the suspect Maurice Otto Akileo who hitherto had been the body guard of Akileo will be transferred to Kapoeta South for further interrogation. Otto committed the crime on Wednesday afternoon after an altercation with the late Susan Mboya. “We are going to transport the criminal from Budi to Kapoeta South for further interrogation,” Luny told The Juba Echo. Luny said that they are expecting rise in criminal cases similar to this latest one in the state as festive season approaches. Bosco Lotyang, Member of Parliament representing Budi County in the state parliament called on youth to stop excessive consumption of alcohol which often leads to crime. “You know this is very sad news and it is in Budi County, this incident might have been influenced by drunkenness, I think the soldier might have acted under influence of alcohol to kill the woman,” said Lotyang. “If there is a problem with somebody it is good to solve it amicably,” he added. Soldier arrested who shot dead wife of Budi County commissioner

A 20-year-old South Sudan People’s Defense (SSPDF) soldier who shot dead on Wednesday the wife of Mboya Akileo the Budi County commissioner has been arrested.

Maj. Gen John Luny, Eastern Equatoria state Acting police commissioner said on Thursday that the suspect Maurice Otto Akileo who hitherto had been the body guard of Akileo will be transferred to Kapoeta South for further interrogation.
