Captain Guot Guot Akol, the police spokesman in the State told Juba Echo that many traders are being issued the fake hard currency and is affecting business.

Two people were arrested in the State capital Aweil this week for selling some fake dollar notes to an Ethiopian trader.

According to Akol, at least three incidents of counterfeit money have been recorded this year, and investigations show that the money originate from Juba

“We have investigated but we can’t contain the situation,” Akol said.

“According to our investigation, the money is brought in from Juba and now it should be the traders to be keen when buying dollars or change their money from licensed money changers.”

In January this year, police arrested three suspects in Aweil East County with 3,100 fake notes.
