At least thirty-five youths trained on Behavioral Change Entrepreneurship training to equip youths with entrepreneurship skills in Juba through the support from United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with the three main objectives to achieve by 2030 which are Zero unmet need for family planning, zero preventable maternal death, and Zero Gender Based Violence (GBV), including harmful practices like child marriage and female genital mutilation.
Malou Mel, one of the participants said that lack of capital and renting challenges the business sector in Juba because to start a business, a successful one in that matter requires the willpower to face the hurdles that come with it.
“First of all, the issue of capital determines the kind of business that you will run, and management also has its own cost. The economy of the country also has an impact on the progress as well as the downfall of the same business. A lot of people start a business and they don’t last a year or two or three in the business,”
He added that most of the young people in Juba are dealing in the mobile money business where they buy float in the dollar and sell it to get a little profit. Given the continuous rise and fall of the South Sudanese pound, it becomes harder for these little businesses to carry along.
Meanwhile, Deng Abraham Mangar, one of the beneficiaries said that business location is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Whether you’re setting up a brick-and-mortar business or launching an online store, the choices you make could affect your taxes, legal requirements, and revenue.
“Most of the young youths are having lack business skills because the legal structure you choose for your business will impact your business registration requirements, how much you pay in taxes, and your personal liability it’s not easy to pick the perfect name,”
At the same time Gak Malek, CEO for Business and Entrepreneurship Anchor Technology Limited (BEATec) said that the training is divided into two batches of 35 each hence the first batch started on Monday 5th December 2022 and it is ending on Friday 9th. The second batch shall kick off on 12th December 2022 and take another five days to complete the BEATec training module.

BEATec is looking forward to establishing the first Business Hub in South Sudan by 2023 to incubate startups and innovators from idea, prototype, market-entry, and continuous Business coaching and mentorship through Business Development Services (BDS),”.
