The Central Equatoria State government vowed to crackdown on armed assailants suspected to have perpetrated the recent attacks on Juba-Bor highway which left four people killed.
“The state government condemns this harassing and provocative act of banditry in strongest terms possible and remains firm on its commitment to bring the perpetrators to face the full force of the law,” Andruga Mabe Saverio, the State Minister of Information and Communication told journalists in Juba on Thursday.
He was speaking after a high-level delegation sent to investigate the incident had briefed Emmanuel Adil Antony, the Governor for Central Equatoria state on the security situation along Juba-Bor road.
On Tuesday, four people were killed in road ambush along the Juba-Bor highway prompting security operatives to close the road for traffic in order to investigate the incident.
Saverio said the latest incident has caused panic and anxiety within the public.
“The same has caused serious insecurity, displacement and severe horror to the state and the country as a whole,” he said.
Saverio said the killings came at the time when traffic along the road had of recently increased.
“The security organs are instructed from now onwards to be vigilant in handling promptly any matter of similar nature,” he said.
