By Staff Writter

At least four people have been shot dead and an unconfirmed number injured in an ambush on Central Equatoria State Governor Adil’s convoy on Juba-Yei road on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased persons include three national security officers and a policeman.

The attack by unknown armed men occurred at around 3PM in mile 58 of Lainya County.

Adil who was travelling to Yei town went by air.

It should be noted that last week an ambush was also laid on a governor’s committee headed by the State’s security advisor while travelling to Lainya to try and resolve a dispute between cattle herders and the host community.

The committee reportedly returned to Juba without meeting the herders according to Lainya county authorities.

Meanwhile, five people have been killed in an attack on a military base in Mambe area Maridi Western Equatoria. The state information minister confirmed the incident happened around 6am on Friday.
