The Bari Community Centre which was initially established to host cultural and developmental projects has been turned into a politicking hub by desperate politicians and their hangers-on, according to the Juba County Commissioner.
Charles Joseph Wani said on Wednesday that the Bari Community Center was closed down last week following a political event that was hosted by the center, adding that an investigation committee will be constituted to find the motives.
“We realized that the center has become a source of division within Bari community,” he said.
“I do not want my people, the people of Bari community to be looked at as plotting rebellion that is working against the government,” added Wani.
Wani was speaking during the handover of the Bari Community Centre to the traditional authorities under Chief Angelo Lado Lino.
The Bari Community Centre, a three-storey building in Juba town which houses conference hall, and an open space for entertainment and social functions was inaugurated in February 2021 as an edifice of the community leadership.
