Artist’s urged to shun tribalism, promote peaceful co-existence

The President of South Sudan’s Artist Union Hamet Deng Williams, urged all Artist in the country to shun tribalism, hatred, and violence and embark on promoting peaceful co-existence in order to pave a way for unity and development in the country.

Hamet Deng Williams, the President of South Sudan’s Artist Union said that its time for the union to focus their energies towards embracing national diversity and development in the country.

“Let’s leave out issues of conflict, be focused on peace-building. We have the strength and let’s use our strength to develop this nation through,”

 He added that peaceful co-existence starts from “our families with all relatives, our neighbors and to the whole country.  We will not stand for tribalism because it will not take us far. It is us to embrace togetherness and peace as one people one country”,

Last month, the South Sudan Artists’ Union has been split into two opposing factions fighting for its leadership.

Kuol Deng Alias Kay Law, a rapper who is the current Legal Advisor for South Sudan Artist Union on accused his President Hamet Deng William of sowing seeds of discord when he fired some members in his cabinet.

 By saying that the artists’ union is preparing to get a new leader, we want a new body, but instead of the President joining us he decreed his new government making himself the leader and taking major positions to Bahr El Ghazal.

“In 2020, we recommended William as interim President, we agreed he serves six months which have elapsed, and we are now looking for a candidate from Equatoria region,” he added.
