By Adia Jildo

Angelo Agany,  a police officer who gouged the eyes of his teenage daughter in Warrap State  has been brought to Juba for further investigation and  subsequent court proceedings.

In April, Akuot Agany Akut suffered total blindness  after her father pierced her eyes after refusing a man her father chose for her in Tong County of Warrap State.

The violent act caused nationwide uproar and condemnation with members of the civil society calling for justice to be served.

Since then, the father-Angelo Agang -had been detained by police in Warrap State.

Speaking to this outlet, police spokesperson Maj Gen. Daniel Justin Bola said, “the father is currently in Juba with us in CID. Investigation is going on in regards to the case.”

He said the attorney general would determine the case whether the military justice system or the GBV court will take up the case.

Akuot is receiving treatment in Juba. But Gen. Justin said there is a plan to flow her to Germany for further medical help.
