Former UAP insurance staff who were dismissed by management in October 2023 plan to file a case in court on Wednesday challenging their dismissal.
“The court case hearing of UAP National Staff Association (UNSA) against UAP Insurance Company for defying South Sudan labor laws will be held on September 18, 2024, in the Juba high court,” said a statement issued by UNSA in Juba.
In September 2023, the UAP National Staff Association went on strike protest over poor working conditions, leading UAP management to dismiss them.
The affected staff petitioned the National Ministry of Labor in October 2023. The Ministry of Labor after hearing the complaints of the fired staff advised UAP Insurance Company to reinstate all the workers but the company reinstated some workers, leaving out 10 staff that remain unemployed.
“The unity and prosperity of our beloved nation is our greatness as people of South Sudan,” said UNSA.
